I recommend ASP, which is probably the easiest language around. It uses a variation of the BASIC programming language called VBScript, so it is very easy to learn. See the following URLs:

Also, ASP scripts can be developed on your local PC using the PWS software. If you have Win98, you can find the software somewhere on the CD. (I think it's in the addons folder.) Or you can download it from:

If you can afford it, you can go for Cold Fusion. I haven't had the time to learn it, but it looks even easier than ASP.
Hope this helps.

I am learning Perl right now, and I find it fairly easy considering I have little experience in programming.
The easiest way is to take some tutorials off the net, read em, and find a friend who knows Perl and bug the hell outta him/her ":)

my opinion is, it's the best thing to know at least the basics of each language. almost every web-site uses perl and java-script, you will sooner or later have to use them, even if you only have to debug some scripts.....
i think you should just decide to, what you need most.

I just learned in a forum that asp is for nt and php is for unix.
I am unix hosted and wonder if somebody has any good php links, like the ones Stefen had for asp? Thanks Stefen
