whats this worth
ok for a while now i have been programming a banner rotation script which i plan to sell, i was just wondering what you guys think its worth
Its done in: PHP/MYSQL
It shows the banner via iframe (no iframe then javascript / no javascript the normal html tags)
Supports rich meida banners to people that can see iframe or via ssi
Supports unlimited banners & categorys
protect against double clicking from the same user (will only let each user click each banner once, every so many hours you set)
Tracks stats daily for each category & banner
option to target banners to a category
Category login page so you can view category stats
Account login page so you can view banner stats
you can set banners to expire by pageviews/clicks/date
once a banner has expired to goes into a expired list
you can put banner accounts on hold (removes them from the rotation)
add / view / edit / delete categorys OR banners
option to view overall daily stats
since the script just keeps a record of all old stats forever, there is a admin option to delete stats older than so many days
i think thats all the options, oh yer if there is no banner avaible in the rotation then it displays a default banner

Honestly, it's probably not worth very much. So much stuff on the web these days is open source and given away for free that you're not going to get people standing in line to buy something similar. Check out a free scripts archive like http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/ and you'll see that there are at least a dozen freeware ad rotation scripts available. Just do an honest assessment of the free scripts and see how yours stands up in comparison. What features do you offer that the free scripts don't? How many people need those features? What might they be willing to pay? That will tell you what to try charging for yours.

i was thinking of affering it for shareware (admin scripts expires after 30days) then maybe charging $100 to register the script since that seems a good price when working off what them php scripts offer

$100 is way too much....
You can buy vBulletin for less than that, and it's more complicated.
"admin scripts expires after 30days"
Now, I know this isn't compiled source, so...
Are you running this all from your server?
Or, if your having 'customers' download this....
How are you going to keep people from tampering with it?

Hello Graeme,
The adcycle.com script is free, but it shows banners in the admin center.
Perhaps you could do a similar thing, offer your program for free but supported with banners. You could make money by selling ads in your 'network'. After all, the people using it would be webmasters so it would give you some targeting as well.

Oh, I didn't know that
I just checked the site though and it does state freeware/shareware versions available.
It must be the freeware option with the banners.
Sorry for the mistake.
Simon.
