uploading photos and news

I have a client who is interested in a web site. They want to be able to upload photos and put news onto the site themselves. They want it password protected. I was thinking along the lines of some sort of control panel access. Does anyone know the best way to handle this? Would I have to code these features in? Is there some sort of software I could use -- a CMS or extension into Dreamweaver?

Please advise! Thanks!!

Here's one solution (not necessarily the 'right' one for you, but a good starting point). Firstly get Drupal, then choose an image gallery module that suits your needs:

I would expect either the first or the second option will suite your needs best. Drupal can have a bit of a learning curve, sometimes you have to think a little differently, but ultimately it will be rewarding.

If you can't find what you need there, a list of all available modules is at: http://drupal.org/project/Modules

For those that know me: whilst I recommend Drupal for nearly everything that's because it's so bloomin' good! Smiling

Although Drupal does now come with its own lightweight photo gallery installed, if I remember correctly.

I use Drupal on a couple of my sites. If you're looking for examples, check out ThePriebes.com and GetASiteOnline.com.
