A Unix Shell Access Question

We are planning to set up a facility where our group can log on to the Unix Shell to practice CGI & Perl and related matters. The goal is to have access to a Unix server in a most economical way. Everyone is willing to contribute some money and a person has volunteered to take care of other aspects. Can some one please tell us how much it might cost and how do we go about setting it up, what hardware and software do we need, please.

Why spend money?

telnet to sdf.lonestar.org and type visitor for the login, then sign up.

they are a FREE public UNIX shell acount provider, not only do you get access to Perl you also get access to a free 5 mb web page and a C compiler.

hope that helps,
Orpheus
