Search for elusive CGI script

Hello to all from Pakistan,

I am making a web-site for a company that maintains a database of it's employees,
listing the employee's details such as name, address, phone, number, and department details. I am trying to find a cgi script
that will search the database (dbf format) for any user specified query and return the list of matching employees.
What if, instead of typing in a search string, he selects one from a drop down menu? is that possible?

Any help would be appreciated.
