Script to install icon on desktop

Hi guys

I have been asked by a friend if there is any way to let clients download an icon of the product they purchase to their desktop.

They also want to create a direct link from each icon to a webpage.

The download may read something like this - "Download Your Desktop Product".

A sort of bookmark but with a little icon on the desktop.

I have created the desktop icons but don't have a clue where to start with the rest, any ideas welcome.
