I'm running dry on script ideas. If anyone has any original thoughts that they'd like to share with me PLEASE DO.

Even if you think that your idea is stupid and worthless please post it.

are u looking for ideas on simple or complex scripts?

complex = script for giving away free homepages like geocities or a web based email script.

moderate = a banner exchange script

simple = cookie generator (hehe)

Orpheus,

How bout a script that lets me update all of my wife's eBay auctions at once. I know it has been done before but people just aren't handing them out left and right. OR if you could just point me to one!!

Thanks,
John

How 'bout one of them scripts that does multiple search engine submissions.

I'm new to Perl and am wondering how they work.

Thanks,
John

My site has been entered to three of those top 100 list things, if you could create a script that will on the click of one link, open three new browser windows each with your voting URL of the three different sites it will save a lot of time for my sufers and would boost my ratings Wink
In summary a 'three (or more) way link'. Or even better if you could make it so it would register a vote but not have to open the top 100 site page, keeping the surfer at the site, that would be perfect.

Thanks

Here's a script that I could really use:

One that grabs topics from a number of UBBs and sticks them on one page. I've seen the same sort of thing done with search engines (Plebius scripts), so it's got to be easier to do it with UBB since the source code for UBB is available.

I find that the scripts that I find most useful are simple and well documented. I’ve listed a few ideas below. I don’t personally need any of these, but there scripts that I’ve been asked about or think would be popular.

Show name – A basic Perl script that could use cookies and possibly SSI to save the visitors name and display it throughout the site. I know this would be easier with ASP/PHP.

Menu with log – Okay, everyone knows how popular these JavaScript drop-down menus are (I personally use a Perl script for them instead as it does not require JS) this would be the same except it would write a nice log of how often each URL is selected through the menu.

Site Map – Basically a site map that when run by the administrator maps the directories you select. It would then display the pages hidden title tag. Many sites use the same title tag for every page, so allowing people to assign their own tag for example <meta NAME="sitemap" CONTENT="Home Page”> would be required.

Good luck,

Edge That's actually a really good idea for the UBB script. People would really go for that.

adam Also some good ideas. The drop down menu with the log sounds like it has some potential.

Sorry, the reason it says edited on the bottom is becasue I wrote an idea down and then completely changed it after.

the idea is simple. It is a formmail script but there is an extra input field where you can add files form your harddrive to be sent along as an attachemnt.

An example scenario is a site wants to have user submissions of files and their info but wants to check that all is in order before they add it to the site. The email comes and it has the users name, email etc, and the files thast they picked from their harddrive.

That script would be great.

Another idea:

A script that gets content from Vstores. This would let people's stores match the rest of their site.
