How would I go about setting up a mail server on my offline web sever (Abyss) so that I could send and receive mails over it offline.
cheers

Ummm, I'm not too sure about this but I think you need to be online to send and/or receive emails.

Wha? Of course you can't send/recieve e-mails when your offline...It's a contradiction in terms!

bugger, some bad wording on my part.
Is it possible to setup a mailserver on my computer? and if so how would I go about it?

The two most widely used mail server are probably sendmail and postfix i know there is a version of sendmail for windows but i'm not sure about postfix. both are free and you can search google to find some instruction on them. I always use sendmail probably just because i know how it works but postfix is easier to configure.
IF , ELSE , WHILE isn't that what life is all about
