Man I need help.... -
Simple? This is as simple as it gets I guess. My situation is this: I have a website that I built, and it is working fine for the most part. I am using Netscape Composer, and a WS FTP. The problem(s) is this: Some of my JPG's are not showing up. Some are showing up in Explorer but not in Netscape. Some text is normal in Netscape but huge in explorer. I feel like an idiot here. Any Ideas?? I am a newbie who needs a little help from the pros here. I appreciate any and all help anyone can give me. My site can be seen at http://cdmodels.web1000.com

Cyberdog,
Before anyting else, let me say that, though I have no problem with adult orientated sites, it would be appreciate if a warning was given before any adult link.
Just for the sake of any minors in the forums.
To the problem...
First page seems fine in N4 + IE4
helloooo Miss Belgium (sorry, should focus on question...)
It actually looks like you will have to give me a path to follow to find these problems as the 5 pages I looked at seemed fine in both IE4 and N4.
Sorry.

Thanks for the reply JP, and for pointing out about the adult content warning. You are right. I keep forgeting the damn web1000 nude banner!! It really has nothing to do with my site, other than that it has to be there. (Hosting privileges). I have since discovered the secret to matching text size and alignment for both browsers. I also managed to fix the missing images. I am now having more problems though. (OH boy) On the second page, one of the button images is not showing up. I have saved this image as everything under the sun...gif, jpg, JPEG, BMP etc, but it just won't show up in either browser. Also, how do I change a JPG into a GIF? I have Corel photo house and Ulead Express, and it seems that both can work with a downloaded GIF, but I can't change other files to GIF's. Any clue? I appreciate the assistance. Thanks again.

Also, anyone out there know any good sites that offer free web graphics? I know of a few, but can always use more. (I know it's not like designing my own, but I am in the learning curve right now, forgive me!)

I have some graphics links on my site, and also I have a few free graphics. My own graphics aren't that great (I made them a long, long time ago), but you should find the links helpful. Here is the url, enjoy:

Thanks JP, I've always enjoyed your site as well. The Do you?, Have you?, Can you? theme is excellent. I have it as one of my promotion links.
I'm thinking about linking to the Webmaster Forums here as well. The board on my site is a plain message board, this forum allows much more organization of topics.

Cyberdog,
BTW how do you match text size and alignment for both browsers, then?
I thought I knew, but seems that N3 has some problems.
For anyone wanting to help, visit the no frames http://freehosting9.at.web1000.com/cd/cdmodels-web1000/faceplate.htm .
A look at the HTML shows that the code:
<a href="pg7.htm"><img SRC="bttnteens.JPG" HSPACE=11 BORDER=0 height=25 width=75></a>
...is fine, which means it is the image name and/or location.
Check if you have the 'bttnteens' image in the same directory as all the other working images. Verify that the extension is indeed .JPG and not .jpg or .gif or .GIF etc.
If it is .jpg it will still work in windows but not online.
To change the extension of a file just load it up into a graphics program (say PSP) and click on 'save as' then type image.jpg if you want to save a .gif to a .jpg file.
Regarding free graphic sites there are many out there - how about starting a list here, if it comprehensive enough I will put it in its own thread.
I'll start with one of my favourites:

WOW, you just never know when you will start a large discussion here eh? Kewl.
As to matching text size for both IE 5 and Netscape 4.5, well, all I did was switch from HTML font size +2 to font size 12 in Netscape Composer. Magic! Also, it came to me in a dream...for images, I must also upload the image file to the server along with the new page...what a dummy!! As soon as I did this, the image appeared! (Big time).
I have several "free graphics sites" listed on my site already, and I will check out the ones you have suggested as well. I have a few new websites in the works right now. I also tried to find out just how many websites are actually on the internet right now worldwide, and the nearest figure I can get is just shy of 160 million! If anyone can obtain more accurate figures, let me know. Thanks all. Bye now.

BTW, I am still trying to figure out how to change a JPG file into a GIF file. If I download a gif, I can work with it in either of my photo editors (Corel photo shop or ulead express) and save it as anything. BUT, if I have a jpg, JPG, JPE, jpe, JPEG, TIF, BMP, or any other image file, I can't save it as a GIF or gif, and I really need to know why not, or how to do this. Anyone? I have tried....lord, how I've tried.

Cyberdog,
As .jpg files have 16 M colurs a shortcut would be to get it up in a browser, right click on it > copy it > paste it into your paint program > reduce colours to 256 (for .gif) and then save as .gif.
unorthodox maybe, but it might just accomplish what you need.
BTW, thanks John for your comments on the new design. I'm goinf to change all +2 fonts to size 12. ... and see if that works.

CyberDog,
...shouldn't this post have been in the Grapghic/Design forum?
For future refference post in appropriate forums as it means that you are likely to get a better response.

I wasn't sure just where to post my original question, I just chose the web-builder's section, and picked the first category I saw. heh heh. I'll kmow for next time. I have learned alot here already though, thanks. I will try your jpg--->gif trick and see what happens. Thanks again!!

BTW, JP, I checked out your new page that has website hosting information, and I notice that several links lead to "page cannot be displayed" page, including the one that is intended for contacting you. Hmmm.
Also, I know that Web1000 is an adult oriented source of free hosting (as in my site) but they offer 25 Megs of free space, and supply daily hit stats via email for you. If people don't want the adult content in the form of banners on their site, then Webjump offers 25 Megs as well. Just go to
www.web1000.com or www.webjump.com
I think that this is an incredible amount of free space, and your web address can still be quite short...re: cdmodels.web1000.com

Cyberdog,
Thanks for the note but the new design is only a template (not live) and is only approx. 20% complete at present.
Also thanks for the notes on the hosting providers, I will have a look into those issues later.
