I need a searchable database.
I'm not familiar with perl or cgi, but I'm trying to put a searchable database in one of my sites. I would also like it to be easy to add and delete links, maybe through a control panel. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know what you think.

anything premade is searchable.. ie: mysql, access, mssql, postgressql, oracle....
yes, those are all sql standard, but anything made well, will be searchable
POSIX. because a stable os that doesn't have memory leaks and isn't buggy is always good.

I'm assuming from your post that you are not familiar with any sort of server-side programming language or database system? Do you know any SQL?
Don't worry if you don't, I'm just trying to assess your current knowledge.
I've always liked this article for beginners and I'm sure the book is excellent as well.
