How to execute .cgi files in ssh ??

Hi,
I am trying to run .cgi scripts and getting "Internal server error" on some of them but not others.

Using "Putty" ssh program is it possible to run the .cgi file and get a more detailed description of the problem ?
I can get to the directory where the files are but cannot seem to execute them using "putty"

Try running 'perl -w script.cgi' on the command line and seeing what errors it spits up.
