Help Finding Good Content Management/Blog Script

I have been looking around for a good content management script for sometime for my personal website. There are so many its quite overwhelming. I have installed about half a dozen, but each has been too complicated for my needs or doesn't seem to allow me to do accomplish the basic tasks I want. Here’s what I'm basically looking for, maybe someone here knows of a program that means my needs. I would prefer a PHP/mySQL script.
Membership/Registration with Groups
I want the ability for people to register and then for me (as the administrator) to assign them to a group (i.e. family, friends, coworkers, etc). Then when I publish new content I want the ability to assign what groups see it (i.e. unregistered, registered, family, friends, etc).

Categories
I don't need anything spectacular. Just the ability to setup categories and publish content to them.

Photos
I'd like for a way to post a gallery of photos to a particular post/blog and for there to be a category called Photos which lists all my galleries. I need the photos to have permissions with the groups as well.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks! Smiling

Pmachine can do most of what you asked for. You may require a hack/mod (or the pro version) for some of the advanced membership functionality but I think it can cope with most of it.

The site is pmachine.com

Actually the pro version has four levels of membership, plus four levels of administration, plus super administration.

I was thinking it would be the photo gallery that would need the customization, lol... Smiling

Nah the photos is quite easy. Theres a version of coppermine photo gallery available that integrates with Pmachine (see http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/). The otherway is just to add the photo's as entries within pmachine (you can upload the pics using the image uploading facility). I do it all the time on my blog at greendezire.com

Thanks for the suggestion. This program looks good. I can't seem to get it to set article specific permissions though. Do you know if it can? That's really the tuff feature to find apparently.

I want one blog for all my users and then article specific permissions so you only see the post if you have the correct membership group.

Thanks again!

Hi,

There are instructions on how to do that in the documentation. Theres a link to it on the left hand menu called "members only pages". You can easily modify it to restrict acccess to certain member levels only.

Thanks. I took a look at that section and it would provide me one way of doing it, however I really want it so that I can select which set of group each post is visable by. That way both my family and my friends (for example) can access my events page but see different articles.

I have the day off today, so I'll spend some time reading the forums and documentation on pMachine.

teammatt3,

Thanks for the suggestions. I've already tried both PostNuke and phpNuke. They are a little too complex for what I need. Plus I could not get either of them to do what I want with article level permissions either.
