help with AMLite please

Does anyone here have any experience with the script Account Manager lite from elite scripts (cgi.elitehost.com)? I have nearly got the whole thing working apart from one thing. When I run the script to configure the password it says
Cannot write to pasword.txt. Check your permission settings.
I have checked them... Over and over again (755 and 777) but to no avail.
