CGI or PHP

We are starting to write a program that will cull xfer, mail, and httpd logs for traffic stats for name-based hosting and are slightly torn between cgi or php - anybody with file I/O experience have any input? It would be a one pass through each, reading each line, pulling user name (or resolving user to website) and writing results to a MySQl DB (localhost). My preference is PHP, but thought I'd check to see if I may be overlooking something..Thanks!

I've written something similar. Somthing like disk usage or something else 'Web Usage' related. I used PHP4. I don't care what those CGI phreaks say. You can still run shell commands in PHP.

Good Luck,
