Browser/Resolution detection

I tried a search of this forum, I found one thing that was close to it, but I couldn't get it to work

Im trying to put my code into templates, to save time and aggrevation. However, I need to detect the resolution, and browser (type, and version) and store that information in variables.

There's gotta be a simple way to do this. Can anyone help me out?
