BBS that allows moderator approval before posting

I have a customer that wants to moderate their discussion forum by receiving email notice of new posts made by users, and the opportunity to approve the user's post BEFORE it is posted on the forum page.

Is there a script available that will allow a delay before posts are made, or require a reply from the moderator before the post is allowed?

I've looked everywhere... any ideas on a script for this?

Thanks.

You could try the UltraBoard or UBB, both have what you're looking for.

I know the UBB does not allow you to do this prior to the post being allowed. It will send mail to the moderator upon every post if you wish, but not allow you to approve the post. There is a simple hack however that will allow you to do this at scriptkeeper.com

Just thought I would let you know that

That might be an interesting feature to add to Boardzilla as an option...

I am not sure of one however if you know perl or can get someone to help you this is not very hard!

You simple have the message posted to a temp file and send the moderator an e-mail.

Then the moderator could login and click approve or decline. If messages was approved you could remove the data from the temp into the actual database of posts depending on how system is setup.

I think its a good idea but most boards won't have this feature for the simple fact that if many people post to a message board a day such as this one the admin would have hundreds of e-mails and post waiting to be approved and it would also no longer be in real time.

I think best way to do it if you can is get a board that allows members to post only if registered. This way they would 1. need a real e-mail to get temp. password and two you have a bit more peice of mind.

If they don't behave just add them to the blacklist.
