Any suggestions on PHP books?
Does anyone know of any really good books covering PHP? I have looked on Amazon.com, but I want to know from actual webmasters / programmers what they think is the best book.
I am just getting into PHP, but I have a good grasp on other languages like HTML and DHTML.
I am interested in this because the program is free and my experiences with this have been pretty good.
Cost isn't really a large concern, so any book will do.

I am in the same boat as you and would be interested to hear any comments from more experienced PHP gurus. Make sure to use php.net extensively, too.

I recently bought Beginning PHP from Wrox press and it seems to be pretty good so far. I'd heard good things about their books from various developer sites. I'll let you know more after the weekend (hopefully...) when I've had a chance to get into it more.
(unfortunately I didn't find out until after I bought it that I can't install PWS etc. on Win ME... GRRRR! I know, I should have gotten a better OS... will have to work from my website host instead, which is a pain)

This one called PHP and MySQL Web Development by Luke Welling, Laura Thomson is one of the best. Here is a review on Amazon.

Can't you just install Apache?

I've got PHP for the WWW from Peach Pit. It seems like a decent intro to the language. I'm an experienced Cold Fusion programmer and I just needed a quick intro/refernce and this does it.

I've read a few PHP books. Here's the best:
"Professional PHP Programming" by Wrox. I am a beginning scripter, and it was perfect. Has lots of working examples. Hope this helps

I don't know anything about any of those books.
The one book I have on PHP is the PHP Bible by Tim Converse and Joyce Park (published by IDG). It does have info on DB sites, but it's only a small part of the book.
