Any Good Books?
Hello,
I know absolutly nothing about perl. Any ideas on any good books or good ways to learn it pretty quickly? Is there anything i shoudl know before i learn perl as far as other languages? Let me know of some really good books. I am trying to put a data base together for my dads company so that customers can login and check status of thier bills and accounts. Any ideas?
Best Regards,

Perl is one of the most widely used languages, but you may also want to look into PHP, especially for this database project.
My personal favorite Perl book is “Perl and CGI” by Elizabeth Castro. It’s very simple and written in English, so even the most novice programmer can figure it out. Of course you’ll want to expand to more advanced books eventually. I use “Perl 5 a Programmers Reference” most of the time now.
Good luck,

You can always go the O'Reilly route, with Learning Perl and Programming Perl.

I just picked up the Perl Black Book (something like that) and it looks very comprehensive.

The black book is a great reference but won't do anything for you unless you know a little bit of Perl. I suggest to buy the oreilly books learning perl and programming perl. They were written by Randal L Shwartz (he's definately a fun person to be in irc with). Those books will get you programming perl in no time.

The oreilly books are the best.
