testing perl on a pc!!
i have a pc, and i would like to test certain scripts i have on my computer before i connect to the internet and upload them to my cgi bin, how could i do this?

I am assuming that you're talking about testing it on the Windows OS. First, get ActivePerl from http://activestate.com . If the scripts you are testing are CGI scripts (like you said), then you'll need a webserver. A nice, easy and compatible one that I recommend is Xitami, http://xitami.com . Good luck!

Well if you're using that server the only other thing you will need to do is register the file extensions ".cgi" and ".pl" to ActivePerl. The install might do this for you, but it's good to check. This way you won't need to worry about changing the compiler line (#!/usr/local/bin/perl or something like that). If for some reason you didn't like Xitami, another good one, Website Pro, is available at http://website.oreilly.com .
