Need some help about a news script
Like many game sites on the web, i want to include a latest news section on the news regarding gamecube information, or nintendo information. The thing is, i don't want to look up the stories and then post them, but i notice many sites look like its a script that grabs stories from a particular source, kinda like a script pulling stock information onto a site. If anyone can help, that would be awesome.
thanks

This is entirely possible. You can do it in either of two ways. A lot of sites that do offer content, either for free or for $$, now distribute their content in the standard CVS format. This is a small file that you can get a script to poll off a webserver, and then slurp it in similar to XHTML.
If the site doesn't allow content, however, then it's a bit more tricky. You have to come up with a custom script to basicaly rip parts of the site off and display it on yours. Not really advisable as you could get into some hot water.
What websites are we talking about here? A lot of news websites these days offer downloadable headlines, such as sladhdot.org, freshmeat.org, finance.yahoo.com, news.com and more. Let me know which sites (or what kind of information you're after) and I'll see what I can come up with.
Hope this helps.
