Could someone please list some nice coldfusion sites. I am beginning to get into Coldfusion, specically, Coldfusion MX (that came with Studio MX). I have bought like 3 books on it, and I just want to see some real good examples of the power this code has.

Thanks alot guys/gals

not many sites are designed in coldfusion...very hard to learn, and not alot of hosts give coldfusion support...check out cfmcentral.com and cfsearch.com cfsearch will give you a list of some hosts that support it....cfm central is a good resource...a while ago i was going to get into it because i heard its fast and easy once you figure it all out, but then i realized it wouldnt be much use because its not widely hosted

A couple of examples off the top of my head:

MediaTemple is an excellent host that features ColdFusion MX hosting.

Coldfusion hard to learn? No way. It's hands down the easiest scripting language to learn. It's very fast to learn, cuts your development time way down, and has a pretty good amount of power behind, especially CFMX now that it runs on a 100% Java platform.

Check out library.digiscript.com - a complete knowledge management system, assessment services, and more all built in ColdFusion, with the exception of the content delivery platform which was built in Java.

davidjmedlock has it right, this is the easiest language to learn. Search for *.cfm on Google to get a list of CF users... it's quite large. I'm not going to get into a battle with PHP users, but CF is a great rapid development tool. It has many short comings, but all technologies do. weigh the benefits against it's downfalls and choose the winner. Good luck!

While we are on this subject, can anyone point me in the direction of a company that provides server space with CF already installed? I have found numerous server companies with PHP 4.0, .Net and other, but not CF.

Here is a search result from google, I'm sure you can pick out a good one from it.

I, myself, conducted a search shortly as posting my reply. I also looked at your results (which were almost indentical, no surprise). I waqs surprised to see that a single month of hosting on a server with CF installed ran almost 30 dollars. That was only for like 50-100 MB of space. If you wanted half a gig, you were looking at 60-80 dollars. That seems incredibly expensive.

Thats OK, Ill stick with my php for now...until the prices come down.

PHP is less expensive because it require less administration and maintenance
