Slow FTP
I have wu.ftpd running on a RedHat server
I can connect to it and FTP to and from it, but ftp'ing to it is incredibly slow... it drags on in connecting
When I'm staying on my network, it is fast after it connects
But if someone outside of my home network connects, it is terribly slow... 20 seconds for a 1k upload.
I have a firewall but it is free through my FTP port, as is my router.
Any idea how to speed up my FTP connection progress?

Make sure the nameservers listed in /etc/hosts are valid and working.

That is valid...
It's still incredibly slow though
One other thing:
How do I restrict access in FTP? Users who FTP in can see all files, but cannot edit them.
Example:
root can log in and view everything and edit everything
user1 can log in and view everything but only edit things in /web/user1
I want it so that it logs in directly to /web/user1 and so that user cannot go out of that directory
Thanks
I am using wu.ftpd

Hmmm no luck there...
Any other choice?
Maybe I'm doing it wrong

Here we go!
http://www.wu-ftpd.org/HOWTO/guest.HOWTO
I had to edit /etc/passwd and change their home direcotry, add /./ to the end of it
Seems to work
