RPM vs home brew
I've got 2 (Mandrake) boxes running apache, mysql, and php. The one box is running versions I compiled from source. On the second box, I'm playing with RPMs.
I like the speed that RPMs offer for installing/upgrading a system. However, I'm noticing that it may constrict a customized configuration because of it's cookie-cutter nature.
I'm courious what the majority of individuals and hosting companies do for their boxes.

I would say that given the fact that the largest portion of Linux Web Servers are running RedHat, then there is a good chance that they are using rpm's somewhat. I personally don't trust rpm's. I would rather compile it and put it where I want.
