Personal Web Server
sorry if this is the wrong place.
1/ I'm looking for a web server I can run off my computer, similar to Microsoft's PWS. It needs to be able view PHP
OR, if that doesn't make sense
2/ I'm looking for a free program that'll let me view PHP files in my browser, offline

Oh, you probably don't use a Mac. You can configure PHP on a Windows machine. Check out http://www.php.net for details.

Or try this. It installs PHP/MySQL and Apache on your Windows machine.
Another alternative is to build you a server out of an old computer, load Linux along with Apache and you have your own personal web server.

One last question..to view ASP pages Abyss needs ActiveHTML which doesn't run on Windows 98. Anyone know of any other programs similar to ActiveHTML that can be run on Win 98?

What OS will you be using? If your planning on a Windows box, all versions since Windows 2000 Pro and up come with IIS, or Internet Information Services.
It is really easy to set this up, along with PHP and MySQL database in order to use a Forum system.
I'm using this setup for one of my servers now, if you need any help feel free to email me.
On the PHP editor... I strongly recommend Crimson Editor. It's completely free and keeps all of your most used files in a quick tab. You can do a search at Google for it.
