MX Entry

let me preface all this by saying I really don't know what I'm talking about Confused but...

I've got a friend who runs a website. I don't know what he uses to manage his server and it may be nothing. Seperately, I can host domains on my reseller account and all my domains have cPanel server management. On cPanel is an option to change the MX entry.

I would like to set up a whole bunch of mail forwardings for him (manage his email accounts) so my basic question is, does this MX entry thing let me do this? How does it work? And what would be the process?

Thanks

P.S. I'll assume that doing this with forwarders (not actual accounts) would draw on my server's bandwidth resources.

A MX record is just a DNS entry for Mail EXhange. All that it does is to say to which IP address that mail is sent. You don't want to change the MX entry unless he has a Mail Server of some type setup to receive the emails. This is quite a bit different from forwarding where email is received at a domain and then forwarded out somewhere else.
