It is a bit sad in a way. China has their own version of Linux Red Flag Linux while the US government tends towards Windows. Don't know if that bodes well for the future. Interesting also in the article, they only certified one distro SUSE, since that was the one that was tested.
Some distros like Redhat and MDK make for an easy install but tend to open up a lot of security holes by default by having unneeded ports open and services running. One of the reasons that I prefer Slack, since it is pretty secure out of the box.
