Ok, I'm very interesting in getting a dedicated server, but have some questions I want to put up for discussion.

Ok, I'm first going to start with the server I'm interested in. It's from Dialtone Internet. Here are the specs:

• Red Hat Linux 6.1

• Two 700MHz Pentium 3s

• 512MB Ram

• Two 9.1 GB HDs

• Unlimited IPs

• 50GBs Bandwidth ($3/GB extra)

SETUP: $600 / MONTH: $725

Now, I think this is a really good price. Best I've seen. So, now on to my questions...

1) How many virtual hosting accounts do you think this can hold? I'm hoping for 256. What do you think the max this server can hold is?

2) Now, bandwidth is an issue. 50GB would not be enough even for probably 100 sites. So what do you hosts do? It's only $3/GB extra, so do you charge your customers something like $4/GB so you won't lose money?

3) Has anyone ever used a Dialtone Internet dedicated server?

4) Does anyone know of better prices anywhere?

Wow!

Not bad a server.

Well..

1) Well I am sure it could hold atleast 256. No doubt. I would trim it down though. I doubt you'll find a "good" answer for that questions, but I am sure it could. Depending how many resources you got going etc..

2) I'd charge about $4.

3) Nope, but only heard good comments about them.

4) Webhosting Network MAY go lower. They are in VDI Noc, but there are 4 DS3's going in there.

Hope that helps.
