HTTP response for 'update your DNS dammit!'
Hi,
I made a DNS change recently but notice that some users (usually server-based requests) and search spiders are still sending requests to the old IP. Is there an HTTP status message I can use to say 'look, you'll get this site fine if you update your DNS'? I don't want to put up a holding page as that will result in a 200-OK and ruin my search indexes in google, etc.
Thanks,
Chandy

How would you define "recently"? Depending in what's in your TTL (Time to Live) record, it may take up to 72 hours for all records to update.
