.htaccess

Ok I think my .htaccess file is posessed by daemons. sorry..hehe.

Anyways hope this is in the right forum..I posted it in PERL Forum as well. Well here goes nothing.

I have tried everything with .htaccess. I have two of them in different folders, one that calls on a password file named "admin" the other on a password file named "passwords". The problem one is passwords. The htaccess file give access only with the admin user pass pair. This was the first user pass pair I created on the server. No matter how many times I reupload the htaccess file the admin user ass pair works. No matter where I tell the htaccess file the password file is. If I told it that it was in dev/null it would seem to say ok, and it would still accept the admin user ass. That and no other...why? What is going on here?

So far this thread has received no reply in the CGI PERL Forum..hopefully I can get some help here.
