How to make email work on a server without a control panel
Ack! I have a client that has donated space. That's wonderful and all, but this space has NOTHING.
No control panel at all. It has php installed, and one database (MySQL) assigned to it. Other than that, I'm on my own.
So... how do I make email happen!?

Do you have shell access? Do you know whether they have sendmail, qmail, other? If you are unable to install anything, then you might ask those who made the donation to setup the email accounts for you. Also if this is a non-profit customer, then you can get Cpanel for next to nothing.

This is a volunteer gig for a group that doesn't qualify for a non-profit designation. It's basically an alumni event group.
Yes, I have room, but no, I can't afford to install a control panel. I do, however, have ssh access, apparently. I believe that everything I need is there, I just don't know how to access it without a control panel. The donors said something akin to "we're giving you this. if you want something more, pay for it."

So, I can install almost anything. Any solutions? Free is better, cheap is good, pricey isn't an option.
