Hmm...which registrar...? I need FAST opinions!
Hello there!
Oh I'm in a rush...you know these domains get snapped up so fast!
So I'm stuck between http://www.GANDI.NET and http://www.DOMAININFO.COM . Which one is better?
Especially in terms of features and online automation. I really can't extract much information from them, since neither have replied to my queries (thru email). It's been...uhh...one week plus I guess.
I asked them if their nameservers had forwarding...so I could use an FWP...maybe Hypermart or Netcabins...and if their forwarding had URL cloaking AND tracking.
And yes, it was also a little vague to whether DOMAININFO.COM provides free DNS...or at a monthly rate.
Hope you guys can gimme some good pointers. And it's quite a heavy one too since I will be registering 3~4 domains at a go!

Out of those two, Gandi seems better. Never used any of these services (yet), but I haven't even heard of the other. Also, Gandi is the cheapest. Others to consider are 000domains.com and dotster.com.

Likewise I haven’t used either of the services you’ve listed but I would recommend DotSter. I’ve used them to register 30+ domains and have been very happy - one of the more professional registrars.

Does any of the mentioned services provide free DNS, and most importantly, if it has url forwarding/tracking capability? And of course, the ability to modify MX and CNAME records on the fly...
Or should I just use Granitecanyon.com? The only qualm is that they dont have url forwarding/tracking, and seriously, I do not know to really use that thing!!

Check out our site: http://HomepageNames.com We will give you all those features you want for just $17. Yes, Gandi and dotster are cheap, but have they answered your emails and do they offer the services you want for FREE?
Take a look.

heh joel i was just joking man!
well, sorry to dissapoint you but me & my bro went with gandi.net.
:\
well he (yes he with THE credit card) was endlessly talking bout ICANN Accredition...and well we couldnt find HPN on ICANN's web.
nonetheless, domaininfo was a little steep on price (US49 initial two years) to be paid in advance...and dotster's policy was quite discouraging, noting that they maintain the authority to remove domains under them, with their sole discretion, within 7 days notice. now thats really screwed up if u ask me.
inww.com was also on the steeper side of pricing.
so far so good..

HomepageNames is a reseller of OpenSRS, who are an ICANN accredited registrar. OpenSRS is part of Tucows.

Good choice going with Gandi. How did they turn out? DomainInfo looks too expensive for my taste.
OpenSRS is an excellent service, and all of their resellers can definitely be trusted. They have a great operation going. You might want to let your brother know about them. And maybe also CORE, since they accredit registrars also, like ICANN.
Finally, joelmoss: don't advertise your service like that on these forums. If I see it again I'll have to ban you. Check out our rules and you'll see what you agreed to when you signed up.

Well, it's all speedy and no nonsense for most of the part.
although when the nonsense DOES come...it's horrid!
imagine having to always return to the main page and navigate thru a myriad of links and then reentering your credentials again and again for EVERY change e.g. DNS, server 1!! they really gotta plan out their control panel better.

Justin, do you have a link to these "rules" you mentioned? I looked at The Forum Rules for Adults but could not find what you were referencing about. Although every Forum page has a link to the FAQ's, the only one I could find for TOS (on the main page) is not yet a link.
I agree that if everyone follows the same rules, it makes it easier for everyone. I wasn't aware of a "one strike and your out" policy and just want to make sure I'm reading out of the same Rule book.
Thanks

WebsiteRob: It's actually in the TOS, which I mistook as the thing you agree to when you sign-up. Sorry about that. The new TOS is currently being worked on here at TWF, and should be out soon. As a moderator here I personally give a warning out for the first offense, and then if I see the more of it, then I talk with my follow moderators and admins as to whether the person should be banned, etc...
If you have any other questions concerning this direct them to me, and please don't post it to this thread. Thanks...
