FTP Security
Hello
I am running an FTP server and I have some questions about security. Currently I am using the Serv-U and I am still in the free trial period. They have a version that uses SSL but I don't think I need that much security. What Software would Anybody recomend that is not to expensive. I also have XP pro so I can use the built in FTP server but like the rest of XP there is no security what so ever. Any suggestion?
And does anybody know if there is a way to open files remotely of the server without copying them over to my PC and then pasting them back when I have made a change. Is this possible with and FTP?
Thanks
jjj

I like using an SSH server, not FTP. It's much more flexible than FTP, yet much more secure. Plus, you can login and get a prompt (using PuTTY), which cannot be done with FTP.
Also, opening a file locally, without first downloading a copy of it, is not possible using either WinSCP or any FTP client. However, if you do use SSH, you can edit using pico, vi or several other *nix editors right at the prompt.
WinSCP:
