may i share my little knowledge about this with you???
a URL is generally split up in three parts:
www.webmaster-forums.com e.g.:
com = general net name, defines the name-server telling your computer the IP-adress(number-code) of your server
webmaster-forums = the name given to the server
www = directory on the server!
the www-directory is not the only one on your server, there are several, e.g. ftp, www, user1, user2 and so on.
so when you type suzanna.net, your computer finds the server-machine, but doesn't know the directory to access.
ok, i think i made any possible mistake in explaining this, could somebody please correct my mistakes ?

Ask your host to set it up so this is possible, www.what-next.com works, as does what-next.com .
They should be able to fix this or at least invent a good excuse as to why it is not possible

Pat, may I correct you?
com = Top Level Domain (a.k.a TLD)
webmaster-forums = Second level domain
www = Third level domain (a.k.a SubDomain)
The www is nothing but a simple subdomain like in http://mp3.lycos.com.
Suzanna, Ask your host to add the vhost suzanna.net to their Apache configuration files.
Cheers,
Polpus

Hey u2 (Pat and Polpus),
just to correct you (both).
The com is the top level domain.
The webmaster-forums is the domain.
And the www is the host.
However with modern nameservers it is possible to have the domain have an additional A-record so it is recognized as a host too.

ok, for now we have three definitions about that.
technical, simple and general.
can we agree we are all right and suzanna just has to ask her host to change this?
