I'm playing around with some IP banning. One thing i don't get is why when I do deny from 135.123.23 it doesn't ban 135.123.234.23

I would have thought it would ban all the "following" IP addresses.

I have to enter 135.123.234. for it to work. Is it at all possible to using 135.123.23* or something like that?

Nope, this is not possible AND it would be the worst thing you could do!

Banning with a wildcard like this would mean to ban a range of 10 complete subnets! What might be the use?
BTW, those subnets could belong to completly different owner, so this would mean in worst case you block a whole city or state from accessing your domain
