Control Panels - Web site Control Panels

Many hosting sites are offering their clients some type of "control panel" to help them with such tasks as uploading files or viewing logs, etc... The best example that I have seen is Website Manager ver. 6.0 at www.websitemanager.com

Does anyone know who sells these programs or scripts?

My wife & I serve as sort of "micro" isps for the designers in our group. Being able to offer a control panel like I have described would be very helpful.

I don't think they will sell it, though Smiling. Instead, what you might want to do is co-locate somewhere that provides a control panel. Examples are colossus.net and powersurge.net.

Chewbacca,

I have to disagree with you. Most hosts DO offer control panels now. It is a basic necessity to survive in the hosting industry. Clients WANT them and that is a very large determining factor in what host they choose. I would say that about 80% of hosts have them now.

I have never seen nomonthly.com's control panel but from what you described, ours can do everything you said and more. The items that you listed are pretty much standard on all control panels now.

I must admit that CommuniTech's control panel has to be one of the best UNIX control panels in the industry - and yes, it has everything nomonthly.com's has and a great deal more.

Not many hosts offer "Control Panels" or sell them seperately but the one I'm with does; www.nomonthly.com. what's cool about it is it has a site creation tool, stats program, domain manager and lots of other stuff I can't even use unless I want to upgrade my account to a "reseller". It's real easy to use, I can't believe their giving it away for free. It's all real time too, so I can update my pages or ftp stuff instantly. I'm really impressed, It's really worth 10 bucks a month. In fact, if I was really motovated, I would become a reseller and sell the control panel and tools as "extras" to my clients. to Jp: cumminitech's cp page doesn't load-up, what can it do? Does it have all the features that mine does? thanks

We have the same control panel as nomontly.com .. because we also use Alabanza dedicated servers. Our clients have access to the control panel with all our plans.

Chewbacca,

I am not going to disagree with you but in the 7 years that I have been on the Internet and the 6 years that I have been related to the hosting business in one way or another, I have seen a lot of things transpire. Control panels have basically revolutionized the hosting industry and as such, almost every host has some type of control panel, even if it is a simple e-mail control panel. I would say that 50% is a conservative guess but I haven't done a survey to find out Smiling ...

Chad,
Your right when you say to survive, hosting companies must have and/or offer control panels, but I wouldn't say that 80% offer them right now. It's more like 50%, with some panels more comprehensive than others.

If you colo or lease a dedicated server it usually comes with its own control panel.
