The cheapest domain name registar
Hello,
I know that this has been asked and discussed before but i can't remember where.
What domain name registar company do you use?
Which one is the cheapest and yet reliable?
I think i'm being ripped off by using network solutions

Yeah, I've used TotalNIC for about 4 of the domain I own, and they are great. The only thing that blows is that you can't change the owner.
I didn't mention them because they wanted to know the cheapest, and TotalNIC is $17.50 per year, which is far from $12.

And you're happy w/ Joker.com? I would never use that sight without getting a recommendation... it looks unprofessional and has typos all over. The site just doesn't instill confidence if you know what I mean

One of my friends registered a domain through Joker and he said their system is hard as **** to understand. He had to finally e-mail them to change the DNS nameservers since it was so hard. But other then that he said everything else was great. I agree that the design sucks, and the typo's are probably 'cause their native language is German.

You can also try http://www.onestop.net they are also cheap and as Justin mentioned about Joker it's the same for onestop. They don't have any control panel like http://www.internetregistration.com where you can change DNS yourself and it will be updated within 24 hrs at InterNic Records
hope this helps

Does Onestop allow for the transferring of ownership?
I am continuing to use IDR for my clients domains and domains I intend to develop (prorated, after commission, its $20/ year for me)... but there are plenty of domain names I would purchase on a whim for $11 with the intent to re-sell them at auction. That's why I want to make sure Onestop allows ownership transfer.

Here is the scoop on OneStop...
They are a reseller of OpenSRS, which in my opinion makes them very reliable and cheap, because they don't have to pay ICANN $5k per year. They buy the domains for $10 per year from OpenSRS, and then they resell them for $11, which isn't much. I think they make most of their money through web hosting.
Anyway, since they are a reseller of OpenSRS, they should have the OpenSRS client CGI scripts installed. But I don't know this for a fact though, because all of their scripts are PHP. If the OpenSRS client software is installed (which, as I said, I'm not sure about) then it's very easy to change DNS info as well as ownership. So Ted, yes, you can change ownership.
