Benefit of www.yourbusiness.com?
What are the benefits of having your own domain (www.yourbusiness.com) vs. (www.aol.com/yourbusines)?
Thanks,

Having www.yourbusiness.com increases customer trust. It looks more like a reliable business than www.aol.com/business/. Whereas aol.com/business/ gives the impression of being run out of a garage, business.com gives the impression of being a professional company. Some other benefits include the ability to give employees customized email addresses ([email protected]) and also gives the ability to change hosting fairly easily. For example, you could move your domain to a new host just by changing nameserver info, but you couldn't move aol.com/business if you decided you weren't happy with AOL.

it's more professional. also, i personally think it's better to have a name that's easier to remember and type like easy.com rather than bobandhisbrotherslumbercompany.com.

Yes, search engines love you when you have your own domain.
And it looks professional, too.

I beleive the most important factor is professional image. I personally, would never buy products from a free-hosted site.
If someone does not invest about $30 for their own domain name, then it shows me they may not be very serious about their business.
Good luck,
Ryan

A top level domain definately looks more solid than a sub-level.
However I do know at least 2 companies that use very cryptic sub-level domains taht are at least moderately successful so ti can be done. But I do agree your own domain is best.

$12 a year (which can be written off as a biz expense), why wouldn't you?
