I imagine so, but it seems kind of redundant if the post being moved is blatant spam. If it's a duplicate post or something, then it ought to be replied to AND then closed as a duplicate post often looks innocent without knowing why it was moved.

I don't think that you need to PM any mods. I would just hit the replyto on the spam, give the reason for and then shoot it over to purgatory. That way your PMailbox won't fill up but there will be an audit trail in case the move is questioned.

We think alike. I saw that thread in the critique area for Stanwoodbottles. I thought I would show Disaster-Master how to merge it into a thread, since she closed it but alas, the merge option was gone.

I just moved one over the hel.., er purgatory. It is probably not a bad idea, if it is not one of the forums that you moderate that you post a reply stating the reason for the move or just to let the mod know that you moved it.
Who knows maybe we could have a contest among us moderators now to see who moves the most spam into purgatory.

According to the manual, making a user a Super Moderator gives the user permissions to move/edit/copy/delete any post in any forum... That is the only additional power that is given by making someone a super mod opposed to a regular mod... This looks like the option that is being requested.
I have heard your requests and I don't see a problem so I have made all users super moderators so you should now have the priviledges that you are requesting. One note that really isn't too important: I have removed the ability to delete an entire thread as it's not needed. I have even deleted a thread on accident in the past. All threads that need deleted should be moved to the purgatory (I can't even delete a thread without making some PHP code edits again). You can still delete individual posts but the delete thread option was removed to prevent someone from deleting an entire thread without thinking about what they are doing.
I feel that I have a very trustworthy bunch of moderators here and I don't expect to see any abuse in this additional power that has been given to each of you but please don't do something that will make me regret this decision. I made this decision because none of you have done a thing to contradict my feelings in the past and I don't feel that any of you will in the future.
I can't say it enough: I appreciate your help big time!

OK. But, as a Super Moderator, I would think that Marc would have the ability to move threads from any forum to any forum... That's one "power" I would see him having...

You can move threads from forums which you moderate to any other forums. But you cannot move threads from forums you do not moderate, which is what they are discussing.

As a super moderator, aren't you allowed to move any thread to any forum? Or am I missing something? Looking in the control panel, I really don't see a definitive "Allow Moderators to move all threads" option or anything close.
And aren't you guys/gals able to move threads from your forum to The Purgatory, which none of you Moderate? There shouldn't be a need to delete threads as we move all threads and unless I am missing something (which is possible this late at night), you should already be able to move threads in a forum to another forum...

I'm in favor of it.
I'm also a mod on another webmaster site and in all except for the admin/moderator's forum I can edit/move/copy/delete any message.
Helps cut back on the spam and self-promos a lot.

This thread:
http://webmaster-forums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17374
should be merged into this one:
http://webmaster-forums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17370
(so there is one thread in Job & Barter)
