Hey. That depends on what you want to offer on your page. Do you just want basic images and styles? Or do you want to go deeper with accounts and login systems?
Could you summerise your website ideas for us, so we can help you better?

you should firstly learn the html very deeply. after then learn css and you need to learn javascript.
if you learn some graphics design tools like Photoshop and flash then it is your additional skills. that will help you work as professorial web designer.

currently use notepad++ for writing/editing VBScipts, but I am looking for something new (and also free). Anybody have a favorite?
I don't have a problem with notepad++; in fact I really like it and I use it a lot, I just want to see what other options are available. I would like to find something that has more of an IDE feel to it, but also supports multiple languages.
Edit:
I guess I underestimated notepad++, or I just want too much for nothing, either way I will be sticking with notepad++.

It depends on your interest. My suggestion if you want to become a developer, first learn html then java script, then cascading sytle sheets, then php coding and many more.

When starting web design & development you should always start with the very basics, that includes HTML and CSS, knowing which development language you should use is personal preference, PHP is certainly more flexible to use, however asp can be picked up very easily. Make good use of tutorials and books from well known sources.

Hiya, it would be easy if you let us know your requirement to us. But as you have written you should start with HTML and CSS then proceed further accordingly.

HTML is best because of its user familiar tools and tags. It is very easy to understand, when any mistakes will occur. I know also php,asp ,aspx, and jsp, Html known as a hypertext markup language.

It'll depend upon what functionality you wish to implement... In most cases, learning html, css, and javascript would get the job done...
Additionally, if you can learn Adobe Photoshop to design simple banners for your website, it'd help a great deal too!

HTML and CSS work hand in hand. CSS manipulated the appearance of the site elements. It can manipulate HTML tables. People who do not understand two separate, one can not a CSS file without an HTML or XHTML. And like if you can, I would want to see website code. I love this tool so much and use it it's really very helpful for me.
