.wav file calls up player

Hello members,
Strange thing happened to a site I developed for a client. Here's the chronology. If anyone can solve this mystery, please advise:
1) I embedded a .wav sound into the navigation buttons at the site, to execute on a mouseover.

2) It worked as expected.

3) I downloaded the latest version of Real One Player, just because I needed it,not for the work on the site.

4) Mouse over the buttons at the site now causes the Real Player to open in order to play the sound.

5) Uninstalled Real One Player... grrrrrr....

6) Windows Media Player then opened.

7) Unchecked "associate .wav file" with Media Player.

Cool Now "Sound Recorder" application appears.

9) I have to press the play button to hear the sound, and the page no longer auto-links to it's destination.

WTF?

Anyone know how I can get it to play in my browser again? I believe it only happens in my browser, and the trouble began when I downloaded the new Real One Player... grrr...

To see it in action: http://www.anitajessestudio.com/. Just place your mouse over a clapboard.

Thanks...

That's strange. It worked perfectly on this computer until I installed Real One. It works on my other computer, and for the person for whom I made the site, and her husband's computer and several of her friends that she couldn't wait to show.

Now you've really got me going... haha.

Welcome to TWF

I can't help but thought I'd let you know that it works fine for me on IE6, although it did make me jump!

Thank you Webmistress. That's a relief. I do know that it doens't work in Netscape since Netscape removed it's live audio plugin. Now with Netscape, the plugins one needs some of the traditionally common functions cost money.

WinXP + IE6 = works for me

Though, I'd recommend using a Flash navbar. The sound and animation isn't in sync.

Nothing in N7. I agree that Flash is a better alternative than your approach. But do make sure you have an image and image map for those without Flash.
