video format differences?

Hi,

I am using DreamWeaver on a PC. My client wants my to include video on his site.

How do I decide which format to use (avi, mpeg, real media, qucktime, windows media, etc.)?

Am I restricted as a PC user to specific formats? Please help; I am completly in the dark on this one.
