uploading a background

First of all, I am kind of new at this. I uploaded a page somewhat successfully but I can't get a background to show up. I used front page to create a simple page and uploaded it with a background image. The image doesn't show up on the page. So I removed the image and just used a background color. Still all I get is a white background. I did view the file on the server and it looked like some sort of code. Varying sizes of squares and lettering and so forth. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get this to work? I have successfully uploaded it to tripod but it certainly doesn't work where I am trying to send it now.

Thank You
Rich

After about 10 minutes of the page trying to load I get a "Cannot find server" message. Also couldn't get tripod.com to load either. They must be having problems. Good idea to move to a new host i guess.

I believe that your URL should look something like this though:
http://your_member_name.tripod.com/page_name.html

It looks like you have put the background image as back-192.art it should be a gif or jpeg. You also have no colour specified for the background which should go as bgcolor="#FFFFFF" (=white) into the body tags
