Two issues with a frameset
Hello and thanks for your answers in advance.
I have a website with the following frameset: top frame, left frame, right frame, and the main frame is in the center. And I have the following two issies with it:
1) The files for each page open in the main frame. The issue is that the address in the address bar always stays the same. I basically can't email somebody a link to a specific page because that link will only point to the file, not to the frameset and basically it will only load that file without the frames around it.
and
2) Google and the rest of the search engines have indexed all the frames separately and sometimes links to a particular frame only show up in the search results. It is only supposed to index the frameset, not the separate frames.
I think that both issues are related to each other, but I am not sure of how to resolve them.

Hi stefanmilanov and welcome to TWF!
Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about these problems, except: don't use frames. Have a look around at how many sites use framesets these days, I'd be amazed if you can even find one. The two reasons you listed are some of the main reasons why no-one uses frames anymore.
Sorry.

The thing is that the customer specifically wants frames. I dunno why but thats what he wants. I know that maybe there is a javascript code that can force framing but I cant find it...

Well, hotscripts to the rescue: http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/8497.html if that doesn't work, have another search around on that site and see if there's another script that can do what you need. Unless you've already tried that of course.
Your customer is going to run into problems with frames, really they should just let you get on and do your job. Why hire a dog and bark yourself? We've all suffered annoying customers, so know where you're coming from! I just hope they don't blame you when Google indexes pages individually, make sure you warn them of the problems!
