Table width in IE

Hello,

My friend is starting to make a personal page and is having problems with it. I'm not worried about Netscape, just IE. I hate netscape and no longer cater to them. Thank god they stopped making/supporting browsers.

Anyway, when IE first loads this page, look at the right border. See how it doesn't go to the end of the screen like it should? Now, refresh it. Now, it goes to the edge. What is the problem? The table widths are set to 100%. But for some reason, it only goes to the edge after you refresh it.

Any ideas?

Does he have this in the body tag?

LOL....Oh well, I forgot exactly what they were so I did a quick view source of The Webmaster Forums and that is what they have.

topmargin="0" bottommargin="0" leftmargin="0" rightmargin="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"

Think that bout covers it all.
I left out the fist two. Sorry!

If its the URL in your signature, the table is set at 782, not 100%, the IE body margins are set to 0 so you wont get a full screen at 800x600, the td is 100% which is 782

also at the bottom of the page in your source you have

<html><body></body></html>
<img src="http://www.sierrasoho.org/cgi-bin/log.cgi?ref=http://www.webmaster-forums.com/showthread.php?s=&amp;threadid=15879" width=1 height=1 border=0>
</body>
</html>
'thats the last 4 lines of code, so my guess as to why you hate Netscape is because your havent found a validater

Look at the right border when you first load the page, and then again after you refresh.

Shows right all the time for me in IE5.5 at various screen resolutions as far as I can tell. Everything goes to the edge when it first loads.

ok, I am not the smartest cookie on the planet but the first table is set at 100% and the td's in that table are 25% and 50% which equals 75%. Shouldn't all of the td's equal to 100% in order for it to work properly?

Oh, it is showing up fine in IE 6.0 at 800 X 600 the first time. I know you didn't really want a critique here but I really like the colors on that page. It looks really nice. And the link pics are cute too.

One more thing. You are forgiven BLONDIE!! I have my blonde moments too and I am a burnette. Laughing out loud

Thanks everybody!

DM, you nailed it on your first post with the margin settings in the body tag. She added them this morning while I was at work and it's working fine now. You're a life-saver (literally Smiling )
