Suggestions on this, please?
Sorry for not being more descriptive in the title, but it's just too much to compress in that short of a space .
I am building a website for my husband who sells cattle. He wants to be able to add animals for sale himself. I don't really need a classifieds program because he'll be the only one doing this, but I want it to be an easy, user-friendly interface for him. Should I just go with a photo gallery program? He can upload his images himself that way and I can edit the fields for him so he can input the pertinent information... Is that a good way to go or is there something better? If that is a good way to go, which free gallery program would you recommend? I don't have the budget to buy Photopost (which I use on my own site), but have cPanel on my server and can easily install Coppermine, 4Images or Gallery...
Any input is welcome!
Thanks!

You can use a Blog or CMS for this, theres a bunch of opensource scripts like this in the net. A good resource to check is hotscripts.com, Blogs can be updated with dates... Also you can always hire someone to do some CMS coding that works the way you want. Theres this example site I made before for a client located at http://ebas.demonhale.com you can edit contents by yourself... Just to give you an idea that it can easily be done...

This isn't the only thing he wants...a blog will definitely not do what he wants it to do. I'm not sure I understand how a CMS would, either. The only content he wants to change is the animals being offered for sale...the rest will be mostly static. I'll be using Dreamweaver to do that for him. This will simply be an area of the site where he can add and take out animals that he has for sale and he does want to add pictures. Does that clarify what I'm after? Oh, and I'm getting paid very little, so paying for a script is not an option...
Thanks!

There will be times where he will sell multiple animals, so its best you outline what you envision the site you like to have, anyway a CMS(content management system) is not that really different with a blog, blogs are posted in dated order, while a cms can be filled up with any content you like. But a Blog script (most are free) can be modified to make it function like a CMS, in the example I gave you, all he has to do is login to change the pictures, information and prices, you can always make and modify it to function as a single page editable.... If I get what you mean correctly....

Maybe you get what I mean and I just don't get what you mean ...
He will definitely have multiple animals for sale, but they'll need to be categorized under Herd Sires, Dams, Embryos, etc... so I'll need categories. That's why I thought about just using a Photo Gallery. They won't actually be purchasing or bidding on the animals here...just looking at the info. Does that make more sense?
Thanks for your help!

Thats Why I pointed you at a CMS example since youll be putting in information about the products, Since CMS can be modified, it would be made to function like category based information, that means The BID for example can be replaced by a Sell Info, or More Information Link. Anyways asa Roo suggested, if you do decide to use a photo gallery instead then the link she gave you is pretty much good, That would pretty much do the trick... I was suggesting a more expandable route...

Thanks to both of you...the thing is, the only CMS I've ever used is probably not even a real CMS, LOL, because it's vBadvanced which is basically a no brainer. So, I am just not familiar with how they work. I have cPanel pro on my server and there are lots of them there, but I have yet to play around with any of them.
Meanwhile, I did build a couple of pages for him with Dreamweaver today and am so proud that I've learned to do slices in Imageready so it's been a good day!
Now, about the CMS...any you'd recommend or not recommend?

Wordpress is Good, Mambo(Joomla) is good but a bit of an overkill, Bblog is the easiest I think, functions like Wordpress... Theres EasyNews that you can edit to function like a CMS. But anyways for more of these for your specific needs including galleries etc. Check out HotScripts.com

I don't think that will work for the type of clients I will have...they won't want to do more than go to a photo gallery-ish interface, fill in a few blanks and choose an image to upload. Neat program, though...if I'd found it six months ago, I'd have been all over it for the WYSIWYG editing alone.
