substituting a graphic while loading of page - Web Page construction
Do you mean a splash page with a graphic which displays while the main page is preloaded in the bg.
When the preloading is done the page refreshes.

I haven't tried it before, but I think what is done is that the splash page is shown with a visible image. The images for the next page are loaded on this page as 1x1 or with a javascript preload.
Then a meta refresh is used after a certain amount of time to trasfer the viewer to the next page.
