Select
I try to moderate the <select>box by using CSS. The fontcolor, bgcolor, fonttype and that sort of things are not a problem at all. BUT..
On the right side of a <select>box there is this down-arrow-kinda-thing. Does anyone know how to alter this one?
Thanx in advanx,
Jack

Hi Jack,
Other than sizing the box to fit the num of options, no.

I didn't know it was possible to change these things. Could you give me an example of how you do it?
Does it work with NN and IE?
Thanks

RC and Vincent, thanx for replying.
Question to Vincent:
How do you size the box to fit the num of options? I know this one: <select size="20">, but then it doesn't drop down anymore. Was this what you meant or do you have another option?
Example to RC:
<select name="whatever" style="background-color:black;color-white;font-family:Tahoma;">
I'm working on an Intranet at a company where everybody uses IE4 (and ONLY IE4).
So I don't know how these things work on NS.
For more examples check out:

Or check the inputfield in the right upper corner ('search me now') at:

Anyway, my question is still unanswered.
Who knows how to alter the arrow-button on a <select>?
Thanx in advanx,
Jack.

Hi,
That's what I meant. If you really must get rid of it, though, why not create a gif and layer it on top of the arrows? You may have to layer the menu as well so that both move in unison if there's a window resizing

Hi Jack,
Funny how problems disappear when the cost of the solution isn't worth the expense of effort
BTW: I haven't looked into any of 5+ capabilities, figuring there are too many 4s out there and the above.

Thanx Vin,
I'm not that desperate. I'll leave it gray, unless I hear/read about other options.
Thanx anyway.
Jack.

Maybe it is not to alter at all. (even 5+)
Jack.
