Hi tiny,
some text
the rest of the body.....
go somewhere
1)you can place any phrase within the name & href quotes
2)whatever you do use must be the same for both
3) the href needs the "#" pound sign
if the anchor is on a different page:
page1.html:
...text....
anchor to page2
....text....
page2.html:
some text
the rest of the body....

I'm not sure this is still the case with the newest version, but having any text in would cause it to fail in Netscape6 originally.
It was recommended to put just like that above whatever the target is.

Hi Suzanne,
Let me preface this with: I don't have NN6 yet.
What do you mean by:
How would you differentiate two or more anchors on the same page? Or do you mean "don't put any text between the anchors"? (which I would think ok, but I think is counter to the recommendations, but then again I haven't read them in a long while.)

What I should have said is that N6 will no longer default to the top of the page unless there is a target there.

Additionally: Either having text in the target or none, doesn't matter to the validators, but I found that having text in the target without an href would fail in the initial public release of Netscape 6.
<a name="abigail"></a>
<h1>Abigail</h1>
<h2><a name="betsy">Betsy</a></h2>
<p><a href="#abigail">Abigail</a> has a best
friend, <a href="#betsy">Betsy</a>.</p>
Both should work, but only the abigail target was working in the initial release of Netscape 6.
