I want to know the use of these tags that seem standard on some pages. I even have them but I don't know what they do..lol.

Thanks,

Well think the second one tells the browser to delete all stored files from that site once you sign off, this is too help prvent people stealing images and such from your site,
the third one im assuming means that all links go to the _top frame in your frameset, but if you don't have frames i doubt this is of any use.

All of these are just assumptions i really dont know for sure i just guessed based on looking at the tags.

Hi John,

Ian's has it pretty much on the money (the first one tells the server that it's a document that should be rendered by the browser) If you really would like additional informaiton, I'm pretty sure you can find it at: http://www.w3.org the people who set the standards.

Hi All,

Yes you can find information on meta tags at WC3 but who the heck wants to shift through that site for information that they can get in some readable format else where... So try checking here you will find informations on most all of the Meta tags ... Smiling

another opinion can't hurt, right?

this just tells the browser how to handle the content. you could put 'text/plain' and the browser *should* just print the HTML to the screen instead of formating it.

This just tells your computer (and the routers too) not to cache the page. This doesn't prevent the stealing of images. You would want to use this only if your site has something that is dynamically created (something that is different everytime you refresh). If you pages are static, ommit this tag, you will save on bandwidth and the visitor will have the page displayed faster next time they visit

this is the same as ''. Like ianrules said, this is for framed pages.
