Problem with embedding a frame in Netscape...
Hello all!
Just registered to your wonderful forum... and I've already got a question:
Is there a way to embed frames or "scolling text boxes" in Netscape? I.E. works fine, but since I'd like to make my sites optimized on all browsers, Netscape has to work as well.
Anyone made any experiences with this problem?

do you want automatic scrolling areas like a news ticker (up, down, left or right) or do you want a manually scrollable area?
I'll wait till you reply to give the answer as I don't really want to type both out!

Hey detox!
Thanks for your quick reply!
I actually had a manually scrollable area for Netscape in mind.

It's just not possible in Netscape. Only IE supports iframes.

I think you mean an iframe (inline frame), which only runs on IE...
as far as I know nobody managed to get something like it to work in NS...(yet???)
Shakespeare: onclick || !(onclick)

How about any self-scrolling parts or *anything* that scrolls in NN?? Do you guys have any scripts of some sort?

Hey everyone!
I think I found out, how to produce a manually-scrollable area!
It's possible in NN and IE if you create a *nawsty* combination of several framespages. The scollable area is nothing more than a downsized frame then.
Have a look at this URL if you like:
http://www.ek-grosseinkauf.de/
They have a total of 10 (!) frames there on this page... sick...
Greets, :ducky:

Well, you could allways use:
BlaBla Somemore text
Hello, how are you?
I don't exactly know the correct atributes.

Good trick you have there...
I can't use it to fix my problem but I'll use it for other stuff.
Way to go!

The only problem is you can only scroll text, no images or tables or links.

Using tables is fine and dandy. The major benefit of using tables is cross browser capability. However there are browsers that do not support frames or handle them poorly. Using a form field would work for text, however it would look like a normal form field in browsers without CSS support. Another idea would be to use layers and a little DHTML. ASM SCROLLER 2.0 is one of the best scripts available for this task and provides fairly decent capability (IE/NS 4.0+). You can see a simple demo at http://www.aisinternet.com/etc/dhtmlscroll/

And it DOES work in NN, too!
Excellent, Adam! I think I'll test this one... *g*
Thank you...
